Destination highlight: Amani Nature Reserve

Among the most beautiful destinations in Tanzania, Amani Nature Reserve is located in the northeast corner of Tanzania in the Tanga Region. Amani, which means peace in Kiswahili, is a lush tropical forest located in the east Usambara Mountains. The reserve is famous for its high degree of biodiversity, and it is home to several endemic bird, plant and reptile species. Endemic and rare birds including the Nduk eagle owl, Amani sunbird and green-headed oriole. Amani is also home to several species of African violet which occur naturally along the reserve's many walking trails.
