Former President Bill Clinton visits Tanzania

Bill Clinton visited Tanzania on July 20 to unveil a new program to help fight HIV/AIDS in the country. Clinton met with Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa to launch the Benjamin William Mkapa Fellows Programme. The programme will train 30 health professionals a year in HIV/AIDS care and management. The trained professionals will work in underserved areas of rural Tanzania. The programme is a partnership between the Clinton Foundation and the Tanzanian Government.

Of Tanzania's population of 37 million, it is estimated that 1.5 million adults and 140,000 children are infected with HIV.
