Electricity blackouts in Tanzania

Electricity blackouts began in Tanzania again on April 27. The government is rationing power because of the low level of water in two of the country's main hydroelectric plants. Power will be shut off from 7am until 7pm Monday through Friday. Most tourist hotels and facilities use generators as backup power, so the blackouts should not affect tourists greatly. National Public Radio recently ran a story on the energy and water situation, and you can listen to the story online at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5369441.
