Tanzania has a new president
Jakaya Kikwete, of Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), is Tanzania's new president. He'll serve a five year term. Tanzania's national elections, which were held on December 14, had a turnout of 11.3 million votes, or 72% of registered voters. The majority of government seats were held by CCM, Tanzania's main political party. CUF and CHADEMA, rival political parties, won a minority of parliamentary seats.
